GPS Tourism explores sustainable mobility in mountain territories

A delegation of technicians, politicians and tourism entrepreneurs from the territories that are members of GPS Tourism has visited the area of the Gavarnie circus, one of the most impressive landscapes of the Pyrenees. This place, a world heritage site of UNESCO, is part of the Communauté de Communes Pyrénées Vallées des Gaves, partner of the Interreg POCTEFA GPSTourism project.

The delegations of Pallars Jussà, Pallars Sobirà, the Parc Naturel Régional des Pyrénées Catalanes and the Vallée de l’Agly, attended the seminar “Mobility in the mountain tourist territories” that takes place in the French town of Arrens- Marsous. This seminar is part of the actions of the project, which aims to promote the natural and cultural heritage of the Pyrenees, through the development of an integrated model of tourism linked to sustainable mobility.

As stated by the vice president of the Consell Comarcal del Pallars Jussà, Maria Pilar Cases, a lot of work is being done to create sustainable tourism in the different regions that make up the GPS Tourism. Participation in seminars of this type helps us in aspects such as marketing of tourist products that are already being developed.

During the seminar, topics of current interest and common interest were discussed, such as car alternatives in the mountain tourism territories, the management of tourist flows and the new offers of sustainable mobility, among others.
