Work on the rehabilitation of the old Pobla de Segur train station began in June. This work, with a grant from the Interreg POCTEFA programme within the framework of the Green Pyrenees Slow (GPS) Tourism project, forms part of the different strategies that are being carried out to promote sustainable mobility in the Pyrenees.
The building will house the tourism office, the cyclist services centre and an interpretation space of the Collegats-Boumort area. The purpose of this action on the station is to turn it into the catalyst centre of sustainable mobility, in other words, trips using train, mountain biking, hiking, cyclotourism, horseriding and buses. Solutions are sought that enable visitors and residents of these rural areas of tourist interest to reach the territory in a sustainable manner by seeking alternatives to the car.
The adaptation of this amenity, which will be completed in the spring of 2018, will, in addition to improving accessibility to the natural and cultural assets of Pallars Jussà, provide a link to the tourist strategies of the territories participating in the project on both sies of the Pyrenees.
